Like embossing and die cutting, foil stamping is a specialty printing technique. No ink is used in this process.
The foil material provides the color. While running through the press, a heated metal die presses your design on top of the foil and attaches it to the paper surface.
The “heat” is what also gives it the name “hot foil” or “hot stamping.” Hot foil stamping adds shine, shimmer and texture to highlight specific text or images.
Foils are available in many styles and colors including metallic, gloss, matte, pastel, tints, clear, satin, pearl, marble and even holographic.
